Point One Finger

I used to play soccer with this guy when I was younger. He had unbelievable talent and could’ve played professional easily if he wanted to. I always thought the sky was the limit with him. There was one thing holding him back though, he had no fight in him. If something didn’t go his way he would simply make an excuse about how it wasn’t his fault, which justified his behavior and he would carry on.

I’m sure you know people like this or maybe you are like that yourself. Tyme and Mike often ask me how I can so easily let stuff slide and not get discouraged and I know that sometimes you need to look within yourself to find the solution and sometimes that is just how life works out.

The person who stays in a bad relationship too long loves to blame the other person for ruining their life. The person who stays in a bad job for too long loves to blame the company for making their life miserable. The person who sits there and wonders why their life didn’t go in a different direction has nobody but themselves to look at.

No you can’t control everything that happens in life, but you can control how you react to situations and handle them and that is what a person is made of. I’m not saying that I am cool as a cucumber at all times. I blow my top often and catch myself putting the blame on others more times than I would like to admit, but when things cool down I like to think what I could have done differently.

When I was younger I always thought I was destined for great things and I still firmly believe that. However, my current situation is far from the glorious million dollar lifestyle that I envisioned, but there has never been a time where I sulked about it. There was never a time I cursed fate for taking me in this direction because I know the mistakes I made and the wrong paths I walked down.

Sometimes I know it can seem everything is working against you. You walk across the street after looking both ways and you still get hit by a car. After reading everything I said maybe you think my reaction is you shouldn’t be walking across the street in the first place, but that isn’t it. I want to see how you handle the situation afterwards to see the real person, that is if you survived. You can be unlucky in life because shit happens. Nothing you can do about that, we all aren’t gods.

There will always be those people around though who are never at fault. Guys are real good at this especially when we are arguing with women, I’m not sure if it is in our genes or not, but just because you can win an argument doesn’t mean it’s okay to blame someone else. Point that one finger at the other person then remember you have three pointing back at you.
